I’ve added some upcoming signings to the sidebar. Some don’t have dates yet, so keep an eye on them for updated details. The Borders South Wharf signing is confirmed though. I’ll be appearing there with Trent Jamieson and Pamela Freeman. At this stage, the time is 2pm but I will confirm that closer to the day. I’ll be in Melbourne that weekend for the World SF Convention and the Ned Kelly awards. Should be a busy, fun time.

Shout out to Spellbound by Books for the mention in their Sticky Beak section where Melissa shares interesting sites.

And while you’re here, check out the new badges in the Things For you Section. Grab one and put it on your site.

OK I’m pretty late to the party. Ahem. But yes, I’m totally hooked. One thing I love about the Brits is their ability to laugh at themselves and stare their failings straight in the face (or maybe it’s just that the creator and writer of the series is a Scot?!). Still, the BBC produced it.

Some of the lines, delivered with utter sangfroid, are just inspired. Occasionally, the series lets itself down with some practical oversights but overall I’m having a fan girl attack. With eight seasons still to watch, it will be interesting to see the turnover in cast/characters. Will I be able to maintain my attachment without Matthew MacFadyen?

I’ve nearly finished Flesh House by Scottish crime novelist, Stuart MacBride. It’s the third of his novels that I’ve read and as much as I absolutely adore his characterisation and writing style, Flesh House was way too graphic for me. I had to skip a fair few sections which spoiled the book. I’d recommend his work for those who like the the hard boiled stuff but if you are a bit squiffy on gory details like me, be warned.

In other news, I’ve handed in my edits on Sharp Turn today. Release is still set for December, and I hope to be able to show you the cover soon.

I’ve confirmed a signing at Borders South Wharf in Melbourne on September 2nd. I’ll be there with a host of other authors, including Trent Jamieson, Jenny Fallon and Pamela Freeman. Times still to be advised.

Closer to release of Sharp Turn, I’ll be out and about a bit around Brisbane bookshops too.

So excited to finally show off the cover of my upcoming short story collection called Glitter Rose.

The Glitter Rose quartet is set against the stunning background of Carmine Island where a decade ago spores from deep in the ocean blew in by a freak of nature and settled there. Their strange phosphorescence brings a glitter rose dusk at certain tides. Colourless at first, the sandy beaches rapidly become carpets of tiny, shining, rose-coloured grains as the sky darkens after sunset. These spores bring fierce allergies to the island locals. And maybe other, more sinister effects too. Follow Tinashi’s journey as she moves to the island, settles into island life and begins to discover just what is really happening on Carmine Island.

If you are coming to these elegant, truthful and sensuous stories for the first time I envy you. They’ll haunt your dreams, yes, but what fabulous dreams.– Trent Jamieson

The Glitter Rose Collection features 5 short stories by Marianne de Pierres – four previously published and one new story. Each copy of this limited edition print run will be signed and presented in a beautiful hardbound cover, with internal black and white and colour illustrations.

Google alerts brought me a nice new review for Sharp Shooter over at The Southland Times. “This has plenty of humour, real people and action galore. I’m looking forward to the next one in the series.”

I’ve also seen a rough of the new cover and it’s going to be great. Same theme, bright colours, Tara looking like she means business! Can’t wait to share but it needs a few tweaks yet.
