Just a reminder that I’ll be signing books at Angus and Robertson Post Office Square tomorrow (Friday) from 11am to 1pm with Kylie Chan.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Sisters in Crime Australia, we are hosting, in October 2011, the second ever Women’s Crime & Mystery Convention

The first SheKilda Convention in 2001 was not only the first ever crime and mystery convention or conference held in Australia, but the first ever women’s crime convention held anywhere in the world.

A decade later and SheKilda Again is the second of its kind anywhere in the world. The weekend of crime fiction, mystery and true crime for writers and fans of womens’ crime will be held in Melbourne from 21 to 23 October 2011.

Had a nice signing at A&R Chermside today. A special thank you to Julie for putting up a spectacular display and making me feel so welcome. Met some lovely people and sold copies of Tara Sharp. Had a little girl up come up out of the blue (her parents were nearby having coffee) to tell me that she liked my hair. She then engaged me in intelligent and thoughtful conversation about writing. I was truly entranced. I think she’ll grow up to be President of the World.

My hair seems to open conversations with people. I think I’ll keep it like this.

I’m in the home stretch of Tara Sharp book 2. Crossing the finish line on Friday. I need to hear the spectator shouts to get me home. Whoever shouts the loudest and bestest encouragement gets a character named after them in the next book. I’m listening …

The Glitter Rose collection which features my interlinked stories set on Carmine Island (a whimsical extrapolation of my time living on Stradbroke Island) are now available for pre-order from Twelfth Planet Press. This book will be a hardcover, limited edition with internal illustrations and a preface by Trent Jamieson. This is collectors item, and something I’ll only do once. The stories are my homage to two authors who entranced me with the tragic romance of their stories; Ballard (Vermilion Sands) and Dowling (Twilight Beach).

I’ll be signing with Kylie Chan and Will Elliot on Easter Saturday at Borders Chermside. Time to be confirmed but most likely 11am – 1pm. It will be a fun day!

Also, I’ll be talking to the monthly book club at Borders Chermside next Thursday.

According to SheSaid:

This is just in time for a good summer read by the beach or pool! This rollicking read is great fun, lot’s of conversation, plenty of slang and set in Perth with plenty of action. Be careful though you might just find yourself laughing out loud! Curiously, Marianne Delacourt is the pseudonym of a successful Australian science fiction-fantasy author who is sold throughout the world. Wonder who?? Marianne grew up in Perth and now lives in Brisbane with her husband and three sons. No wonder the Perth references are so authentic!

You can download the media release for Sharp Shooter and some good quality pics from this Allen and Unwin page - in essence a media kit. And while you’re there, order a copy for a friend for xmas. It’s a perfect fit for a (lumpy) xmas stocking.

So after the first cover concept, we moved on to this one. I loved this as well, but the ‘Tara’ still wasn’t right.
