Make sure you read the terms and conditions. Only Gold Coast residents are eligible for prizes but non-Coasters can still vote. Certain requirements need to be met. Then go to it! From time to time the intrawebs deliver some happy news. Tonight it came in the way of the Gold Coast libraries Top 40 recommended reading list. And guess which psychic, arse-kicking, aura-reading detective was on there… Among the books you would expect to see on such a list eg Clan of the Cave Bear, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Kite Runner, Lord of the Rings etc, I was excited to see Rebecca James, another Allen and Unwin Aussie author on there. If you live on the Gold Coast you can vote for the top ten. You know what to do … ‘Perth-ite Tara Sharp is going through a mid-twenties life crisis, unemployed, living in the family granny flat, the owner of a Monaro. One other thing - she can see people’s auras. Naturally she decides to start a self-help group, become a private investigator and take on Perth’s villains. She’s feisty and sassy, and ideal for fans of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum.’ Only a week until my Perth – Melbourne trip now. Looking forward to meeting a whole lot of people, including Michael Koryta, Adrian McKinty and Rebecca James with whom I’ll be attending the Melbourne bookseller event. |
