Aussie crime ambassador Tara Moss has announced her new macabre paranormal crime and fashion series. Can’t wait for this one!

The manager of my YA site, Bec Stafford, has been running a series of interviews called Big 4 Interviews4 questions asked of YA authors we love. The latest one is with Margo Lanagan, but previous interviews are archived. They make fascinating reading.

And speaking of interviews don’t forget to watch out for Tara Moss’s upcoming short interview series with known authors in crime fiction on Foxtel’s 13th street.

I’ve been talking about crime series that I’ve come to late in the piece. Another of those is Tara Moss’s sequence featuring her strong female protagonist, Mak Vanderwall.  I read Siren late last year and was struck by the richness of Moss’s writing. She brings a velvety texture to crime writing that you don’t often find, and an underlying sexiness. A strong plot line and a sure hand with her main character made the book a pleasure to read. I did mention this book in a previous post, but wanted to bring it into my recommended read list.

The fabulous Tara Moss has been running a feature on Writers Desks. Hop on over to find see the kind of places in which we dwell. And if you haven’t dipped into her novels before then shame on you! I’ve recently read Siren and loved the rich world view and the passion she imbues in her characters.

Ripped from Lindy Cameron on Facebook. Taken just as we were leaving.

Funtabulous evening with Tara Moss, Emma Boling and the Sisters in Crime. A bonus to see Lucy Sussex and Jamie there.

Met some neat new people – good luck with your novels grrls at NaNoWriMo. And Chris, thanks for the copy of your book.

The shopping centre was busy but no one seemed interested in browsing, so I had a pretty quiet time of it. I did however chat to a couple of interesting people about things other than books eg Obama receiving the Nobel Peace prize, and child protection – so time isn’t wasted when you get to have stimulating conversations.

I’m off to Melbourne on Thursday for the Sisters in Crime event with Emma Boling and Tara Moss. Am looking forward to this a lot, other than the cold weather. Have to get my jumper out of mothballs.
